Ronald Kenneth Rose Sr., 88 of Follansbee, WV, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025 at WVU Medicine – Weirton Medical Center.
Ronald was born on October 11, 1937 in Troy, New York. He was the son of the late Irving A. Rose and Harriet A. (Jones) Rose.
Ronald served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps for 20 dedicated years, retiring with honor as a Gunnery Sergeant. Throughout his distinguished career, he earned numerous commendations that reflected his bravery, leadership, and unwavering commitment to his fellow Marines. His decorations included the National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with six stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with devices, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Meritorious Mast, Certificate of Commendation, Good Conduct Medal (4th, 5th, and 6th awards), as well as multiple letters of appreciation and commendation.
As a skilled machinist, Ronald served in both the Vietnam and Korean Wars, providing vital support under some of the most challenging conditions faced by our nation's military. His professionalism, courage, and strong sense of duty earned him the respect of all who served alongside him.
Beyond his remarkable military service, Ronald lived a full and active life. He was an avid fisherman and hunter who cherished time spent outdoors. When not in nature, he could often be found in his garage, working with his hands, building, repairing, or simply enjoying the solitude of his craft. His curiosity, resourcefulness, and work ethic were evident in everything he did.
In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by his three brothers, Robert Rose Sr., Art Rose and Irving Rose.
Ronald is survived by his wife, Betty (Moburay) Rose of 16 years, six children, Robert "Bobby" Rose and his wife, Leslie of Arkansas, Ronald "Ronny" Rose Jr. and his wife, Suzanne of Maryland, Gail Rose of Maryland, David Rose of Follansbee, WV, Georgetta Richardson and her husband, Steve of Maryland and Rachel Temple and her husband, David of Follansbee, WV, 14 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, three siblings, Sharon, Karen and Mel and numerous nieces and nephews.
