Ronald Wallace Schmid

Ronald Wallace Schmid, age 85 of Oceanside, CA passed away March 10, 2023. Ron grew up in Lexington, MA and was educated at Lexington High School, Lawrence Academy, Groton, MA, and at Tufts University, Medford, MA. He was a very talented athlete excelling in football, baseball, and hockey.
Ron served this great country as a Marine Corp Officer for 28 years and retired as a Colonel in 1988. He proudly led Marines during multiple deployments including two tours in Vietnam, and across several duty stations, which have included 8th & I Washington D.C. as the Parade Commander, Marine Barracks Bangor, WA as the Commanding Officer, Subic Bay, Philippines as the Provost Marshal, and at MCRD Parris Island, SC as the Battalion Commander of the Weapons Battalion.
Ron was preceded in death by parents Karl H. & Mary Gordon Schmid, brother Karl Gordon Schmid, wife Anne Irene Schmid, and son Ronald Theodore Schmid. He is survived by son Karl Joseph Schmid, son Daniel Wallace Schmid, Daughter in-law Michi Schmid, Daughter in-law Jenny Schmid, and grandchildren Chloe Schmid, Zach Schmid, Teddy Schmid, and Talen Schmid.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00AM Friday, April 21, 2023 at St Patrick's Catholic Church in the main chapel.
