Obituary of Ronald Ernest Sharpe
Ronald E. Sharpe, 87, of Warner Robins, Georgia completed his earthly journey and began his eternal life in Heaven on January 6, 2022. Ronald was born in Macon, Georgia on November 21, 1934, as the son of the late Ernest Laverne Sharpe and Ruth Parker Sharpe. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Sheila Sharpe McDaniel; sisters: Peggy Sharpe Collins and Christine Sharpe Elder; and brother Larry Eugene Sharpe. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Bonnie Woodward Sharpe; his son, Ronald S. Sharpe (Ginger); granddaughters: Heather Lewis Davis (Andy) and Penny Graham Sharpe; grandsons: Ryan Lewis (Courtney) and Andrew White; great granddaughters: Olivia Grace Cable and Macy-Ann Eloise Davis; great grandson, Hardy O'Neill Lewis; son-in-law, Joseph McDaniel; and brother-in-law Jimmy Woodward (Linda).
Ronald grew up in Macon, Georgia, was educated at Fort Hawkins School and was an Honor Graduate of Lanier High School. In 1952, Ronald began his 42-year career as a machinist, and later machinist instructor, on Robins Air Force Base and proudly served in the Air National Guard. In 1954, Ronald met and married Bonnie Woodward, the love of his life for 67 years. They began their life together in Macon and later raised their family in Warner Robins.
For 37 straight years, Ronald competed in the Macon Labor Day 10K Road Race and enjoyed the fellowship with running buddies from the Macon Track Club and Robins Pacers. July 4 celebrations included Ronald's participation in the Peachtree 10K Road Race in Atlanta. He would go on to complete in multiple marathons including the New York City Marathon, Honolulu, London, Marine Corps, Savannah, Atlanta, Montreal, Charlotte, and Pueblo.
Ronald enjoyed time spent with family at their lake house on Lake Sinclair. He was an excellent gardener and an avid reader. Ronald volunteered as a swimming coach and swim-meet director for events in Warner Robins, and he loved to travel with his family. He enjoyed story-telling and writing letters to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
After retirement, Ronald gave time to the Red Cross and the Rescue Mission. He served as a Deacon at Immanuel Baptist Church in Macon where he served on the church finance committee and taught Sunday school. Ronald was a Godly man, rich in spirit, graciously blessed, and lived life to the fullest with no regrets. Others knew him for his devout love of family as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

We were sad to receive word that our good friend and former next door neighbor when we all lived in Whitehaven, Tennessee in the '60's, has passed away. Ronald was always a go-getter and kept things interesting. We had many fun camping trips with Ronald and Bonnie, their kids and our family. There were always pranks being played on each other and quite often he would be the instigator. We've missed them as neighbors but have kept in touch all these years. RIP, dear friend, and our condolences to the family.
