Newmarket - Ronald E. Shove, 77, of Newmarket, NH, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2025, at Dover Center for Rehabilitation.
Born in 1947 in New London, NH, Ron was raised in Goffstown and later settled in Newmarket, where he built a life rooted in family, hard work, and community. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Kathleen A. (Norton) Shove.
Ron is survived by his two children, Julie M. Edwards and Scott M. Shove, both of Newmarket; three grandchildren, Kaitlyn N. (Edwards) McDonald and her wife Ashlee McDonald of Bedford, NH, Jade E. (Edwards) Gendron and her husband Caleb Gendron of Charlotte, NC, and Joshua C. Edwards of Newmarket; and his cherished great-granddaughter, Callie Ryann McDonald. He also leaves behind his brother, Malcolm Shove, and sister, Nancy Ellen Burl, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Ron proudly served his country in the Vietnam War and was a longtime and dedicated member of the American Legion. He spent many years working as an auto mechanic and later retired from Vitronics Soltec in Stratham, NH. He also worked part-time for many years alongside one of his great friends, Kevin Ernest, at Ernest's Garage in Newmarket.
He had a lifelong passion for motorcycles, especially Harley-Davidsons, and shared a deep love of antique cars with his son and grandson. He was a natural storyteller who loved to reminisce and was well-known for retelling his favorite stories with a smile and a laugh.
A private burial will take place at the New Hampshire State Veteran's Cemetery in Boscawen. A celebration of Ron's life will be held on May 27th from 5–7 PM at Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home & Crematory, 77 Exeter Road (Route 108), Newmarket, NH. American Legion services will be held at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend.
