Ronald Stevenson

Ronald Stevenson, 64, of Sparta, MI, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2023, surrounded by his family. Ron was born in Northville, MI, the son of Al and Dorothy (Boyd) Stevenson. He married Kristy (Fortino) in May 1983 at Sacred Heart Parish in Mt Pleasant, MI. Together they raised Angela (Steve) Bultema of Rockford, MI, and Megan Stevenson of East Lansing, MI.
Ron earned a bachelor's degree from Cornerstone University and a master's degree from Walden University. He worked at Honeywell for 29 years before becoming an Associate Professor at Grand Rapids Community College.
He was an avid golfer and also enjoyed basketball, baseball, and bowling. Ron volunteered at Home Repair Services in Grand Rapids and enjoyed working on projects around the house. He was a member of the Vestry with St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Newaygo, MI, and kept everyone laughing with his jokes. Most of all, Ron loved spending time with his family and being the best Papa to Emme and Frank.
Ron leaves behind his wife Kristy; his daughters, Angela and Megan; and grandchildren Emme Smythe and Franklin Smythe.
Ron is also survived by his brother Mike (Dianne) Stevenson of Highland, MI; his brother Jesse (Pam) Stevenson of Allendale, MI; his sister Helen (Gary) Tryzbiak of The Villages, FL; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ron's family will receive friends and family for visitation at North Ridge Funeral Home (88 E. Division, Sparta, MI) on Friday, April 28, from 2:00-4:00pm and 5:00-8:00pm. The funeral liturgy will be held at St. Marks Episcopal Church (30 Justice St Newaygo, MI) on Saturday, April 29 at 11:00am followed by a luncheon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mark's Episcopal Church building fund.
