Obituary of Ronald Gene Winge
Ronald Gene Winge of Bloomington, MN passed away on September 8, 2023.
He was born in Minneapolis, MN on April 2, 1933 to Norman and Mayme Winge and graduated from Hopkins High School in 1951. He worked for several years at Hames Ice Cream Products where he learned to make peanut brittle that he gave to family, friends, and co-workers at Christmas. Ron then went on to serve his country with the U.S. Army 1953-1954. He married Jean Sundquist on June 12, 1954 and they settled in Hopkins. After getting out of the Army, Ron was employed by Northwest Airlines/Delta for 42 years as a chief draftsman. He enjoyed traveling, golfing, fishing and bowling.
After his divorce in 1985, Ron met the love of his life Eileen Ellestad LaVictoire at Northwest Airlines. They were married November 24, 1986 in Minneapolis, MN.
He is survived by his wife Eileen, children : Steve (Mary) Winge, Lakeville, MN; Peter (Cathy) Winge, Eden Prairie, MN; John (Missy) Winge, Chaska, MN; Debra (Dan) Minetor, Bradenton, FL; Jan LaVictoire, Apple Valley, MN; Steve LaVictoire, Minneapolis, MN; 7 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents Norman and Mayme Winge, ex-wife Jean, sister Jan Fleetham, brother-in-law Lorimer Ellestad.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 23 at 5:00pm at the Cremation Society of MN, 7110 France Ave. S, Edina, MN. Visitation one hour prior to service.
