Ronnie Cohee Obituary

Ronnie Lee Cohee, 69, passed away on November 25, 2025 in his hometown of Winston-Salem, NC. He was born on October 31, 1956 to his parents Nolan Cohee and Ruby Shumate.

Ronnie began roofing houses at the age of 16 and devoted his life to perfecting his skills. He was well known and respected for his unparalleled expertise and uncompromising standards. A true master craftsman, his legacy will live on for years to come through the many homes across western NC adorned with his custom slate, tile, and copper work.

Beyond his work, Ronnie had a great appreciation for art and music, and deep compassion for animals. He will be lovingly remembered by his friends and family.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson Daniel Hester. He is survived by his daughters Wendy Knott(Daniel) and Elizabeth Cohee(Jason St. Clair), grandson Nigel Hester(Haley), siblings Darol Billings(Sara) and Patricia Cohee(Ken Hayes), many nieces and nephews, and his best friend of 25 years, a paint horse named Seven.

Per Ronnie's personal wishes, no formal memorial service will be held.

Ronnie was a very nice person to me. I met him where I use to work. Since I retired I have only seen him one time. Prayers for his family because I know he will be missed.

I was sorry to learn of Ronnie's death. We have lost a true craftsman and also a kind person. We first met and developed a friendship with Ronnie in the early 1990's when he reroofed our house. Our young son would sit outside and watch him for hours. They became friends and Ronnie would even take him to lunch. We saw Ronnie off and on over the years for various roofing needs and you always knew you would get the best, most professional job.
My heartfelt condolences to Ronnie's family. May he rest in peace. Beth Duckett
