Ronnie William Pennington, of Berea, Kentucky, a former resident of Leslie & Perry Counties was born on June 6, 1979, in Richmond, Kentucky, to the union of Ronnie "Butch" & Cindy Farmer Pennington. Ronnie grew to show kindness, generosity, and a great sense of humor that touched all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He was a proud graduate of Hazard High School and carried his education forward into a fulfilling career, taking great pride in his work at Snider Electric as a Quality Control Tech. Ronnie was known for wearing his heart on his sleeve, and exhibited a boundless love for his family, particularly for his wife and sons. Ronnie's family truly was his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Ronnie loved everyone, and everyone loved Ronnie.
Ronnie departed this walk of life on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at St. Joseph Berea Hospital at the age of 46.
He leave behind his wife Heather Thorpe Pennington of Berea, Kentucky to whom he wed December 05, 2020; two sons, Clayton James “C.J.” Pennington and William Branson Pennington, both of Central City, Kentucky; his beloved parents, Ronnie "Butch" Pennington and Cindy Farmer Pennington of Richmond, Kentucky. He also leaves behind one sister, Michelle Kilburn and her husband Mark, together with his niece and nephews, Kaitlyn and Dylan Kilburn and Tyler (Sydney) Kilburn, and his great-nephew, Atlas Kilburn. Ronnie's mother-in-law, Betty Thorpe of Richmond, Kentucky, as well as his brothers-in-law, John Thorpe of Richmond, Kentucky, and Jeff Thorpe of Georgetown, Kentucky, also survive him. He will be fondly remembered by a host of friends and other treasured relatives.
The funeral service to commemorate Ronnie's life will be held at 1p.m. Thursday, September 25, 2025 at Kirksville Baptist Church (542 Kirksville Road - Richmond, KY) with Rev. Roger Wolfe & Rev. Dennis Hisle officiating.
Interment will follow in the Madison Memorial Gardens at Richmond, KY with C.J. Pennington, Branson Pennington, Dylan Kilburn, John Thorpe, Jeff Thorpe, an Paul Henson serving as pallbearers. Mark Kilburn, Kaitlyn Kilburn, and Betty Thorpe will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Friends & family may gather for visitation from 6p.m. until 8p.m. Wednesday evening at Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home in Hyden and from 11a.m. until the service hour at 1p.m. on Thursday at the Kirksville Baptist Church in Richmond.
