Beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother, Ronnie Lee Pool passed away reluctantly on Friday, August 1, 2025. He was preceded by his parents West and Nadene Pool, wife Jean Pool, two brothers Carl and Steve, and a sister Jackie Steinmeyer. He is survived by his son, Ronnie Pool; his daughters, Tammie Walker and Dana Walker; brother, West Pool; sister, Kathy Roquemore; many grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as many others that called him friend and even guardian.
Ronnie was a rare breed of individual that could do practically anything well and didn’t particularly care if the rules forbade it. He was a pilot, certified boat captain, handyman, paint and body man, and an excellent mechanic that could and often would cobble together a working contraption with the most basic of parts and tools. He also dabbled in racing (he still holds a speed record at Corpus Christi speedway in a Ford Pinto modified with a radiator fluid filled roll cage made from our swing set… that his kids weren’t exactly done with…), commercial fishing (where we were sometimes reluctant and not always good deck hands up until the boat “The Bottom Time” sank), charter boat captain (his boat, the “It’s 5:00 somewhere”, eventually being wrecked by hurricane Harvey), pool player (he was once invited to play in the nationals in Vegas after defeating his own brother in a sanctioned tournament, but his parole officer wouldn’t allow it), crop duster (he never had a license but did it anyway), truck driver (where he lodged a car hauler under a bridge “they should have marked it better”), and card player (he cheated well, often, and taught his grandchildren to do the same).
Ronnie lived through countless death defying and fun adventures as well as heart breaking tragedies but was ruthlessly taken from us by cancer. He was a well-known friend and helping hand here in Monahans as well as on the Texas coast where his heart remained till the very end. He will be dearly missed by all… except for a good portion of the law…
A farewell viewing and visitation will be held at Harkey Funeral Home on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 10:00 AM -12:00 PM.
