Ronnie Watson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by W E Hawkes & Son Funeral Home - Blackstone on Jan. 16, 2026.
Ronnie William Watson, Sr. was lifted to a place of eternal rest on November 15, 2025. Known by many and always offering a willing hand. Son of the late Fred Watson, Sr. and Viola Watson, Ronnie was born on September 20, 1962, in Prince Edward County, Virginia. Ronnie accepted Christ at an early age and joined Monroe Baptist Church in Rice, Virginia. He received his education in Amelia County and graduated from Amelia County High School. He worked for Cliff Weil for ten years before earning his CDL career from Southside Virginia Community College in Blackstone, Virginia. Ronnie spent over 20 years driving trucks over the road until his illness declined his strength. He was known for two favorite sayings: "Off your tail, on your feet, soldier." "If I can't sleep, no one else can sleep." A devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, Ronnie enjoyed fishing, cooking, and spending quality time with his children and grandchildren. He was always ready to travel and loved life on the road. Ronnie was preceded in death by: nephews, Leslie Watson and James Roads, sister, Betty Roads, niece, Natasha Roads Pope, brother, Ricky Watson Sr., great grandson, MaZiyon Lambert, niece, Laqueena Roads and sister, Virginia Eppes. He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Jenny Watson; five children, Dana Thompson-Perry (Anton Perry) of Richmond, VA, Timothy Thompson of Chesterfield, VA, Latrice Watson (James Hill) of Crewe, Ronnie Watson, Jr. of Amelia, VA and Lakeyia Moon (Justin Moon) of Blackstone, VA; 18 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; his sisters Brenda Watson and Carolyn Watson; his brothers Fred Watson and Alvin Eppes; his sister-in-law Sandra Woodley (Earl); brothers-in-law Keith Thompson (Clarissa), and George Thompson; two special friends Conrad & Debra "Bubba" Jennings along with a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends. Ronnie's life was filled with love, faith, family, laughter, and dedication. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
