In Loving Memory of Rosa Maria Cervantes:
August 26, 1946 – October 28, 2024
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Rosa Maria (Gonzales) Cervantes, who departed this world on October 28, 2024, in Rancho Mirage, California, surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was cherished by all who knew her and leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, wittiness, and unwavering unity.
Rosa was born on August 26, 1946, and grew into an extraordinary woman who never lost her child-like spirit. She is survived by her beloved husband, Pedro Cervantes Ortiz, her proud daughters, Rosa M. Lopez, Eva C. Vargas, Angelica N. Cervantes, Selina Gonzales and Alondra Cervantez and her son, Gerardo A. Cervantes. Along with her multiple stepchildren whom she cared for as her own. She is also survived by her loving brother, John M. Gonzales, and sister, Paula Gilbert, along with many beloved grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Dario and Maria Gonzales, sisters Leandra Alzalde and Beatrice Gonzales, her brothers Alejo, Dimas, Remijio, and John D. Gonzales.
Rosa's life was a testament to the power of love and family. She was a devoted mother and sister, a loyal wife, treasured friend, and the world's greatest grandmother (Nana); always ready to lend a listening ear or a helping hand. Her generous spirit and kind-hearted nature left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered. Rosa believed in the values of compassion and hard work, instilling these principles in her children and stepchildren alike.
A proud graduate of Palm Springs High School, Rosa began her professional journey shortly after graduation, working as an International Telephone Operator for General Telephone (GTE) for more than 20 years. Her laughter and dedication filled the workplace, and her talent was evident in all she undertook. Later, she continued her career at A to Z Rentals until her retirement, where her warmth and friendliness created a welcoming atmosphere for all.
Rosa's legacy extends beyond her professional achievements; after retirement, Rosa proudly took on the role as a full-time grandmother (Nana), helping to raise anyone in need of a loving and caring Nana. She took great joy in family gatherings, she especially enjoyed the holidays and always worked hard to make everyone feel a part of the celebration. Rosa never failed to make you laugh with her jokes, silly faces, or dance moves. She was the glue of her family and will forever be woven into the hearts and lives of her family and friends. Rosa will always be remembered for her kindness, her infectious laughter, and her boundless love for her family.
As we gather to honor and celebrate Rosa's remarkable life, let us carry forward her spirit of love and unity. The world is a little dimmer without her shining presence, but her legacy will continue to inspire us every day.
Rest in peace, our dear Rosa (Nana). You will be deeply missed, but loved forever.
