Rosa May Frees, 85, of Shelby, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2025, with her loving family at her side. She was born February 1, 1940, in Elbridge Township, the daughter of Roy "John" and Josie (Camper) Monroe.

Rosa is survived by: her children, Rocky (Janice) Frees, Kathy Frees, Alan (Robin) Frees; grandchildren, James Frees, LeeAnn (Matt) Augustin, Anthony Frees and April (Josh) Wungnema; great-grandchildren, Madelyn Frees, Owen Frees, Chase, Wesley and Noah Augustin, Cody and Caiden Wungnema.

Rosa was preceded in death by: her parents, Roy and Josie Monroe; husband James Frees; sisters, Shirley (Henry) Verschueren, Mary (Danny) Dawson; brothers, John (Rosmary) Monroe, Ronald Monroe and Jack Monroe.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at New Era Reformed Church, 4775 First Street, New Era, Michigan 49446, with Pastor Bob Abbott officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 pm until 7 pm, Monday, August 25, 2025, at Harris Funeral Home, 267 North Michigan Avenue, Shelby, Michigan 49455 and again on Tuesday, August 26 one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in Ferry Township Cemetery.

Harris Funeral Home, in Shelby, is in charge of arrangements.
