Ms. Rosa E. Powell, 82, of Boydton, Virginia, entered eternal rest on Thursday, November 6, 2025.
Born in Boydton on June 1, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Iraminta Hatcher Crutchfield. Ms. Powell was a graduate of West End High School and Southside Virginia Community College.
A member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Boydton, she found joy in her faith, family, and community. She was formerly employed as a sales associate in the jewelry department at Walmart in South Hill, Virginia. In her leisure time, she enjoyed gardening, watching soap operas and court shows, and listening to gospel music.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Powell was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Powell, and her son, Charlie Edmond, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Margaret Edmond of Boydton, VA, and Carol Edmond Brown of Richmond, VA; four grandchildren, Brittany Hunt, Sydney Edmond, Holli Sharpless, and Stephon Brown; two brothers, Marshall Crutchfield, Sr. of Boydton, VA, and William Crutchfield, Sr. (Stephanie) of Chester, VA; along with a host of other loving relatives and caring friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2025, in the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA, with Rev. Waverly Brown, Sr. delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Crutchfield Davis Cemetery, Boydton, VA.
Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
