Rose Ann Beavers, 100, of War, West Virginia went home to be with her Lord on April 8, 2025, at home surrounded by her loved ones.
Rose Ann was born on August 22, 1924, in War, West Virginia, the daughter of Gaetano and Ermina Mancini Cortellesi of Matrice, Italy.
In addition to her parents, Rose Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bobbie" Beavers; her sons, Robert G. and Richard K. Beavers; her grandson, Robert L. Bledsoe; twelve brothers and sisters; and many other beloved family members.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughter and son-in-law, Carrie and Larry Bledsoe of Oak Hill, WV; daughter-in-law, Pam Beavers of War, WV; grandson, Justin Beavers of War, WV; granddaughter and son-in-law, Candice and Raymond Duncan of Cabin Creek, WV; four great-grandchildren, Jay Beavers and wife, Deana, of Abs Valley, VA, Gaven Beavers and wife, Paris, of Thompson Valley, VA, Alia Short Duncan and Layna Duncan of Cabin Creek, WV; four great-great-grandchildren, Jackson, Ian, Ameila and Owen Beavers, niece Heather Beavers of Hickory, NC and nephew Derrick Beavers of Taylorsville, NC.
Rose Ann, better known as "MeMe", was a fixture of War for 94 years. All that knew her loved her, especially her personality and sense of humor.
She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church of War for many years. Currently she was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Oak Hill, WV. She had a wonderful life. She also had difficult times and always turned to the Lord for guidance.
Rose Ann graduated from Big Creek High School in 1942. Her first job was working the candy counter at Ben Franklin in Welch, WV, and a secretary for the Social Security Office. She stopped working to get married and then raised three children. She was an amazing wife, mother, and cook. She returned to work at the McDowell Co. Board of Education and retired after 20 years as a reading specialist aid, she loved children and helping them learn.
After retirement, she enjoyed spending time with family, rocking on the front porch, and working with her flowers. As she grew older, she enjoyed reading, working crosswords and jigsaw puzzles, and watching game shows.
Rose Ann was a strong, resilient woman, overflowing with Love. Her lessons will continue to guide us. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday May 17th in High Lawn Memorial Park.
