Wayne Marshall O'Dell, 72, of Fayetteville, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 20, 2026 at his residence with his loving family by his side.
Born April 4, 1953, at Green Valley in Nicholas County, he was the son of the late George Albert and Virginia Skaggs O'Dell.
Wayne retired from the Fayette County Board of Education where he was a Master Electrician and HVAC Tech for 30 plus years. A member of the Masonic Lodge in Fayetteville. In his leisure, he enjoyed farming, raising cattle, and hunting.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his infant brother, Arlin Dale O'Dell; sister, Rosanna Treadway; his in-laws, Thomas and Lorene Holcomb; brothers-in-law, Galen Carte, Calvin Treadway, and Samuel Holcomb; and his special friend, Lionel Campbell.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving and devoted wife, Tammy Holcomb O'Dell; his daughter, Whitney Yarber and her husband, Eli; granddaughter, Charlotte Lorene Yarber; brothers and sisters, Ina (Shirley) Hellms, Darrell (Rose) O'Dell, Delpha (John) Bennett, Dreama Carte, Tresha Plumley, and Laird (Candy) O'Dell; brother and sister-in-laww, Jack (Barbara) Holcomb; special nephew, Okey Skidmore; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be 11:00 A.M., Friday, February 27, 2026 at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill with Pastor Bob Coulter and Sandy Carroll officiating. Burial will follow in Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.
Friends may call from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, February 26, 2026 at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill and one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Eli Yarber, John Yarber, Mike Newhouse, Mark Allen, Jackie Jeffries, and Dustin Jeffries.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101.
