Rose A. Colangelo August 11, 1925 – February 28, 2025
Rose Colangelo, daughter of Louis and Filomena Arturi of Port Chester, NY, sister of the late Peter Arturi of Greenwich, CT, wife of the late John Colangelo of Port Chester, NY, aunt to the six children of her late brother and his wife, Marillyn, and great aunt to their several grandchildren, passed away peacefully at her Greenwich home in Putnam Hill on February 28, 2025.
Rose was born and raised in Port Chester and attended local schools, including Port Chester High School, which she graduated from in 1943. After school, she enjoyed a long and successful career with Consolidated Edison until her retirement in 1987. She and her late husband, John, lived on Barton Place in Port Chester until she moved to Putnam Hill in Greenwich several years ago to be closer to her brother and his wife.
Rose was devoted to her six nephews and nieces: Peter Arturi (Jr.) of Washington, CT; Patrice Arturi of Brewster, NY; Phillip Arturi of Ridgefield, CT; Perrin Arturi of Greenwich, CT; Parrish Arturi of Weston, MA; and Pamela Arturi of Old Greenwich, CT. She enjoyed knitting, playing bingo, excursions to Atlantic City with friends, but most of all, she enjoyed being with her extended family, who will miss her love and generosity.
Rose will be laid to rest beside her late husband, John, at St. Mary's Cemetery in Port Chester. She is survived by her several nephews and nieces, their children and grandchildren, and her sister-in-law, Marillyn. A memorial mass to celebrate her life will be held in the spring.
