Rose Gourd Obituary
Rose Gourd, age 76, went home to the Lord, leaving behind a legacy of love, warmth, and quiet strength. She was born in Bay City, MI, to Maxine E. Richardson and raised by her stepfather, Leroy "Star" Richardson. One of six children-and the only girl-Rose grew up with a toughness and determination that shaped her throughout her life. Her spirited resilience became one of her defining qualities. Rose was the proud mother of six children-five sons: Charles "Trace," Rodd, James, Neal, and Matthew; and one daughter, Sarah Rose. Among the greatest joys of her life was the special, unbreakable bond she shared with her daughter Sarah, son-in-law Daniel, and grandsons Dylan John and Jameson Daniel. Rose found her deepest happiness in their laughter, milestones, and everyday moments spent together. She was their constant source of love, encouragement, and gentle wisdom-gifts they will carry with them always.
Rose also found joy, comfort, and guidance in her faith. It was a steady foundation throughout her life, influencing the way she loved others, faced challenges, and cared for her family.
Rose is remembered with love by her children: Sarah (Daniel) Biskner, Charles "Trace" Chaperon, Rodd (Dawn) Chaperon, Neal (Amy) Chaperon, and Matthew (Jamie) Fox; her siblings: Charles (Barb) Gourd and Ed (Ann) Richardson; her sisters-in-law, Mary Gourd and Julie Richardson, and her ten grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, Maxine Richardson and stepfather Leroy "Star" Richardson; her son, James Chaperon; her brothers, Matthew Richardson, Howard "Sonny" Gourd, and Jack Richardson; her granddaughter, Marlee Chaperon; and her daughter-in-law, Jamie Walter.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be arranged at a later date.
For those who wish to honor Rose with a memorial contribution, donations may be made to St. Michael's ECC and School Scholarship Program in her memory.
