Rose L. Gugliuzza

Rose L. Gugliuzza, 97, passed away peacefully at the Mary Immaculate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Sunday, August 10, 2025. Rose was born in Lawrence on September 23, 1927 to the late William and Concetta (Gravina) Somma. She attended Lawrence schools and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1945. Rose was a communicant of Holy Rosary Church and a member of St. Rita Sodality.

Rose went to work at the Wood Mill right after high school where she worked in the shipping department. She was employed by Oomphies Shoes for many years and later went to work for the Lawrence Public Schools where she was a paraprofessional at Lawrence High School, the Oliver and Frost Schools until her retirement in 2000.

Rose loved summers at Salisbury Beach, taking her grandchildren out to dinner every Saturday, cooking for family and friends, but most of all spending time with her entire family.

Rose is survived by her son, Anthony J. Gugliuzza of Haverhill, MA; her two grandchildren, Anthony Gugliuzza Jr. and his wife Kristen of Windham, ME and Lauren Gugliuzza of Dover, NH; three great grandchildren, Anthony and Sophia Gugliuzza of Windham, ME and Owen Phelps of Dover, NH as well as several nieces and nephews and cousins.

Rose was predeceased by her husband, Carmelo Gugliuzza who died in 1994, brothers, Louis Somma, Ralph Somma, William Somma, and Anthony Somma, and sisters, Margaret Buco, Nancy Petralia and Susan Fillipon.

Friends may call on Monday, August 18th, 2025, from 9:00AM – 11:00AM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street, Methuen. A funeral service will be offered at 11:00AM in the funeral home chapel, with burial to follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Methuen.
