Rose Marie Hendrickson, age 70, of Brooklyn, Iowa passed away on April 13, 2025, at the Iowa River Hospice in Marshalltown, Iowa. Rose's wish and final gift was to donate her body for medical science to the University of Iowa. Smith Funeral Home of Brooklyn is assisting with arrangements. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Madison Church of Christ, 3501 140th Street, Brooklyn, Iowa. A reception will follow the Celebration of Life beginning at 12:00 PM at the Church.
Rose was born on February 14, 1955, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Blanche (Hlas) Kalinay. She graduated from South Tama County High School with the class of 1973. After graduation she worked for the Marshalltown Community College for several years before pursuing a degree in Animal Science as a Veterinary Technician at NE Missouri State in Kirksville, MO. She worked for several different Veterinary Clinics before feeling called to help people, which led her to become a Physical Therapist Assistant, working for Key Rehab in Grinnell until she retired.
On July 10, 1999, she married David Hendrickson at the Madison Church of Christ, in rural Brooklyn. They were active members of the church, which is located a mile from their farm. Rose enjoyed running the combine in the fall during harvest, gardening, traveling, staying at bed and breakfasts, reading and she loved Belgian Tervuren dogs.
Rose was a very loving and giving person and will be missed by many.
