Rose "Marie" (Sneeringer) Klunk, age 91, of Hanover, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on January 2, 2026. She was the beloved wife of Benedict H. Klunk who passed away on August 27, 2023.
Marie was a parishioner of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Basilica Club in Hanover. She was also an Auxiliary Member of the Catholic War Veterans Club in Bonneauville for many years.
She was the mother of Andrew M. Klunk and wife Martha and Brenda M. Roth and husband David. She was the cherished grandmother of Cara Jones, Katlyn M. Brummet and husband Daniel and Andrew H. Klunk. She was the great grandmother of Ava Althoff and Carter J. Brummet. She also was blessed with three loving sisters, Elizabeth A. Kepler, Regina A. Cooley, and Mary Ann Staub. She was preceded in death by her parents Paul H. and Mary V. Sneeringer as well as her brothers John H. Sneeringer and William J. Sneeringer.
Marie led a life rich in her faith and in her family. Married to Ben the love of her life for 62 years. Growing up in a life of living on the farm which continued for her entire life. Born in Bonneauville and living on a farm on Bon-Ox Road, moving to Fleshman Mill Road in New Oxford at the age of 9 to another family farm and then when she was 26, moving to the Klunk Family Farm.
Her first job away from the farm was working the switchboard for Hanover Canning Company in 1952. She would then work at Murphy's 5 & 10, the switchboard at United Telephone in New Oxford and then working for 41 years at Lana Lobell which changed names over the years to Hanover House, then later to Hanover Direct. She later worked at Shultz's Delicatessen making fundraiser sandwiches with a wonderful group of ladies that she enjoyed very much. She also volunteered delivering Meals on Wheels for many years after her retirement. She always enjoyed having her grandchildren around, playing games and watching movies with them, and teaching them to cook and bake. She always seemed to be processing and canning the harvest from the garden and cooking or baking something. She enjoyed visits from her family, friends and neighbors whenever they would stop in. Grandma (aka "Gram") will be missed deeply by each one of us who's life she touched.
Our family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to Columbia Cottage for their care and compassion during our parents stay away from their home.
