Rose Marion McConnell, born August 26, 1926, peacefully returned to God on May 30, 2023 in Show Low, Arizona at the residence of oldest son, Christopher and his wife Bernadette, who opened their home to her over 6 years ago.
How do you sum up the 96 years of an incredible, strong woman who found love, gave birth to a large family, imagined creative ways to make ends meet, moved all over the US, and managed to travel the world on a shoestring budget? She made friends everywhere she went and stayed in touch by letter writing and phone calls.
Mom proved anything can be accomplished if you want it badly enough and that was her legacy to us. Those who knew her all agree she is already busy playing bridge, hiking and cross country skiing in the mountains, building more miniatures, and traveling anywhere her heart desires.
She met and married Richard McConnell at Notre Dame University on June 6, 1951 who predeceased her December 9, 2016.
She is survived by their six children, Christopher (Bernadette), Cheryl (Albert), Jeffrey, MarySue (Stephen), Kathleen (Michael), and Mark.
15 grandchildren (Noah/ Chantel (Matt), Case, (Valerie), Courtney (Conrad), Carlyn (Michael), Charles, Cameron (Jodi), Nolan/ Matthew, Brian/ Jeanna (Benjamin), Eric, Nicole (Tre)/ Chelsea (Kevin), and Hannah (Peter),
16 great-grandchildren (Lainey/ Isaac, Stowe/ Anna, Matthias, Jacob/ Trey, Emily, Elizabeth/ Sophie, Fiona/ Zachariah (deceased)/ Iden/ Cadence, Holden, and Siena).
A funeral mass and celebration of Rose's life will take place in Ohio at a later date. Interment will be at All Souls Cemetery in 2024.
