Rose Scharbrough, 84, of Stanford, KY passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 16, 2025. Born on March 14, 1941 Geneva, KY to the late Ed and Lizzie Reynolds Yocum. She is the widow to the late Charles Ulysses Scharbrough.
Rose spent her years not only as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, but also a cherished homemaker and childcare provider to the children of her community. Her home was a haven of love, laughter, and learning, a place where children thrived under her nurturing care. The lives she touched will forever bear the imprint of her kindness and dedication.
Rose's passion was her walk with the Lord. Her faith was her foundation, and she delighted in sharing the Gospel with all who crossed her path. She taught her family the value of putting God first, leading by example in all her actions.
Survivors include her children, Edward Humphrey (Alberta), James Humphrey (Connie), both of Moreland, KY, Larry Humphrey (Tammy) of Russel Springs, KY, Lonnie Scharbrough of Lawrenceburg, KY, Preston Scharbrough, Debbie Scharbrough, both of Stanford; thirteen grandchildren, Leona, Lisa, Jalee, Luke, Marlene, Ashlee, Charles, Casey, Tim, Sarah, Matthew, Daisy and Daniel; 16 great-grandchildren, Ricky, Jr., Alexandria, Jesse, Michaela, McKenna, Maverick J., Marleigh, Chloe, Trenton, Myla, Roman, Wesley, Dakota, Isaiah, McKenzee, Tazmine and five great-great-grandchildren, Aubree, Emmalyn, Sophie, Maverick and Kayden.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Charles Scharbrough; parents, Ed and Lizzie Yocum; two sons, Rodney and G.J. Scharbrough; five brothers, Bill Yocum, Tommy Yocum, Sr., Jesse Yocum, Ellis Yocum and Marion Yocum; and one sister, Elvena Yocum.
A one-day service will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025 at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford, KY. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The funeral will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Mark Sims and Bro. Johnny Humphrey officiating. Burial will follow at Scharbrough Cemetery.
Active Pallbearers are Jalee Humphrey, Luke Humphrey, Charles Scharbrough, Timothy Taylor, Matthew Taylor, Daniel Scharbrough, Ricky Foley, Jr., Jesse Hampton and Maverick Jones.
