Rose Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home on Feb. 11, 2026.
Rose Marie Green Smith, a beacon of laughter and warmth, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026, in Paris, Kentucky. Born to Leo and Helen Hughes Green on March 9, 1967, in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, she lived her 58 years with love, humor, and an unquenchable zest for life.

As a devoted wife to Miller Smith, Rose Marie's partnership was a tapestry of support, devotion, and enduring love. Together they navigated life's streams, both calm and turbulent, with unwavering companionship. Her role as a mother was etched with the same commitment and adoration, nurturing Tiffany Marie (Jeremy) Spradlin and Shaulind Louise (Desirae) Hill with an infinite supply of wisdom and care. Her steps into step-motherhood were taken just as gracefully, lovingly guiding her stepdaughter, Brandi Leigh Smithon, with open arms and an open heart.

The joy of being Grammy was one of Rose Marie's proudest titles. Her seven grandchildren-Nerissa Buice, Te'Varion Jones, Na' Ryan Buice, Noah Halcomb, Brianna Jones, Na'Kayla Halcomb, and Malachi Spradlin-were the recipients of her boundless affection and her knack for crafting moments of wonder and education, always leaving them with smiles and cherished memories.

Though her cherished brother, Mike Green, remains, Rose Marie joins her parents and seven siblings, whom she proceeded in death, in a realm beyond our own. Her laughter, once shared with her departed siblings Donald, Donna, Viola, David, Leo Jr., Francis, James and Hope now echoes in a tranquil eternity.

Rose Marie's home was an extension of her heart, a welcoming space crafted by her adept hands as a homemaker. Her hobbies-fishing, quilting, and losing herself in the pages of a gripping novel-were not mere pastimes, but an extension of her passion for life. No moment with Rose Marie was a dull one; she filled rooms with conversation and insightful tales that would captivate and entertain all who listened.

A true friend with a spirit that will loom large in memory, her special bond with Brian and Cathy Renner, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins, is a testament to her ability to touch lives and create extended family wherever she went.

The words "funny" and "interesting" fall short of fully encapsulating her essence; Rose Marie was the embodiment of joy and intrigue. While her physical presence is no more, her spirit radiates in the stories she leaves behind, the imprints of her laughter on those she loved, and in the many lives she touched with her dynamic soul. Her journey here has ceased, but her influence prevails, crafting a legacy of love, laughter, and life lived to the utmost.
