Rose Mary Wilson died peacefully on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at her home in Wenatchee at the age of 95. Affectionally called Rosie, she was born in Dallas, Texas, in 1928, to Thaddeus Morrison and Fannie LouVern Beall, but was later raised by LouVern and her beloved stepfather, Harlan Norred. She graduated from Fair Park High School in 1947, and from Centenary College in 1951, both in Shreveport, Louisiana. She married Marvin Guidry in Beaumont, Texas, in 1954, with whom she had four children, Cheryl Guidry Tyiska (MD), Cindy (Michael) Herdt (Entiat), Allison Guidry (VA) and Michael (Nina) Guidry (SC). In 1969, Rose Mary married Fred Wilson.
Throughout her life Rose Mary was well traveled, and lived in New York, Tennessee, Louisiana, Colorado, Oregon, Montana, and British Columbia. Ultimately, Rose Mary and Fred moved to Washington, where they settled in Entiat. After Fred's death, Rose Mary remained in Entiat near her daughter, Cindy, for many years. Although she had many choices of places to live in retirement, she loved the friendliness and natural beauty of the north-central Washington area and chose to live the remainder of her life there.
Rose Mary trained as a Medical Laboratory Technologist and worked in doctors' offices, and hospital and private laboratories for many years, where she compassionately served countless families. After retiring, she indulged in one of her favorite hobbies and, along with fellow artisans, opened and co-owned a boutique shop in Wenatchee specializing in hand-crafted and collectible historic dolls. She was also a skilled artist and created a number of lovely items for family and friends, including hand-painted porcelain and other fine art.
Her four children will always remember her with love and affection, but Rose Mary had many other family members and friends who also mourn her loss. She is survived by five grandchildren: Maria Tyiska (MD), Thomas (Ryan) Pridemore (IL), Philip (Erica) Pridemore (IA), Rachel Hardee (Jeff) Killingsworth (VA), and Lindsey Hardee (Pat) Tyler (MD). She had numerous great-grandchildren as well: Trey Tyiska (MD), Madalyn Rose Pridemore (IL), Cheyenne Beck (MT), Dylan and Taylor Killingsworth (VA), and Milo and Margot Tyler (MD).
In addition, she has beloved family members in Oklahoma and North Carolina, and had many dedicated, long-time friends in the Wenatchee area, including her dear friend, Karon Mizer.
Over the years, Rose Mary collected any number of small, and very lucky, yapping dogs, and she loved them all dearly. The family encourages anyone who wishes to pay tribute to Rose Mary's memory to make a kind donation in her name to the Community Foundation of North Central Washington.
Rose Mary's children are grateful for the care and attention she received in her later years, and the friendships she formed in her community. We are especially grateful to Dr. Samuel Ortiz.
Family will gather for a memorial service, and celebration of her life, at a later date.
