Rosemarie Mikson, a beacon of kindness and love, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025, at the age of 98. Born on November 16, 1926, in Staten Island, she was the cherished daughter of the late Gustav and Carrie Falkner. Rosemarie's life was a tapestry of devotion to her family, her faith, and her community.
In the springtime of her life, Rosemarie's heart was captivated by Rudolph Joseph Mikson. Their love blossomed, and they were wed on May 14, 1950. Together, they embarked on a journey of love and partnership that would last over seven decades. After several years of marriage, Rosemarie and Rudy settled in Holmdel in 1957, creating a warm and welcoming home where they would spend the remainder of their lives together.
Rosemarie's legacy is carried on by her loving sons, Rudy Mikson, Jr. and Scott Mikson, and her brother, Charles Falkner. She was the proud grandmother to Gabrielle (Ryan), Scott, Jr., Brian, Sara (Joseph), and Kyle (Annmarie), and the adored great-grandmother to Rylee, Hunter (Emily), Makayla, Dylan, Tyler, Brandon, and Bentley, and the doting great-great-grandmother to Kennedy. Her life was also touched by the early loss of her sons Geoffrey and Gregory, her brothers John Riley, William "Bucky" Riley, Nicholas "Nick" Riley, and her sister Carolyn Delapena.
Rosemarie's educational journey began at Sacred Heart School in Port Richmond Hill, NY, where she laid the foundations of a life characterized by continuous learning and growth. As a homemaker, she poured her heart into raising her sons, creating a nurturing environment that was the cornerstone of her family's happiness. In 1975, she joined the workforce at Brookdale Community College's admissions department, where she remained until her retirement in 1990. Her dedication to service continued as she volunteered at the Keyport Senior Center, enriching the lives of many seniors with her presence.
An avid sports enthusiast, Rosemarie's passion for basketball shone brightly in her youth as she played competitively alongside her sister. Her love for sports remained a constant throughout her life. Rosemarie's zest for life was also evident in her love of travel, exploring new places and creating lasting memories.
Above all, Rosemarie's family was her world. She cherished every moment with her grandchildren, imparting wisdom, laughter, and unconditional love. Her faith was a guiding light in her life, and as a devout Catholic, she was a dedicated communicant of St. Benedict's Parish.
Those who knew Rosemarie will remember her as the epitome of kindness, thoughtfulness, and loving grace. Her gentle spirit and compassionate nature touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Rosemarie Mikson's remarkable journey through life leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire and guide her family and friends for generations to come. Her memory will be treasured, her presence sorely missed, and her life celebrated as a beautiful example of a life well-lived.
