Rosemary Haven Kirkpatrick Obituary
Rosemary was born on February 3, 1929, in Forrest City, Arkansas, to Louis and Thelma Fogg Haven. She had two older brothers, Louis Haven Jr. and Henry Haven, who are both now deceased. Although she had been living in Rogers, Arkansas, for the past several years, Rosemary and her husband Otto "Kirk" were longtime residents of Forrest City.
Growing up in Forrest City, Rosemary made two lifelong friends, Martha Ree Belshe Twist Nimocks and Mary Allison Tipton McCollum. These three shared many happy childhood memories including horseback riding, swimming in the family backyard pool, and summer camp in North Carolina.
After graduating from high school, Rosemary attended Gulf Park College for Women in Biloxi, Mississippi, for one year before transferring to Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, where she joined Pi Beta Phi Sorority. It was also while attending Rollins College that she met Otto "Kirk" Kirkpatrick. In 1948, Rosemary and "Kirk" were married, and he preceded her in death in 2018.
During her years of living in Forrest City, Rosemary volunteered for Hospice, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and various church positions at the First United Methodist Church. She was a member of three bridge clubs and a garden club. In addition, Rosemary was the bookkeeper for their family-owned theaters.
In 1972, Rosemary and her husband started a tour and travel company based in Forrest City and became certified travel consultants. They enjoyed traveling all over the world.
She is survived by two daughters, Lou Kirkpatrick of Maumelle, AR, and Dale Kirkpatrick Montgomery and husband Bobby of Rogers, AR; two sons, Otto " Rick" Kirkpatrick Jr. and wife LaVonne of Fayetteville, AR, and Scott Kirkpatrick and wife Lea of Rogers. Rosemary is also survived by six grandchildren: Scott McDonald; Katie, Haven, and Ty Kirkpatrick; Kory Montgomery, Katie Montgomery Coppin (Matt); and one great grandchild, Adama McDonald.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Forrest City. The burial will be in Forrest Park Cemetery.
