Rosemary Schoeb Sneed, 71, of Oklahoma City, passed away peacefully on June 7th, 2023.
She was born in Cherokee, Oklahoma on February 22, 1952. She was a class officer, an outstanding basketball player (she could consistently sink it from the 3-point-line, long before a 3-point-line ever existed), named to Who's Who among American High School Students, and graduated valedictorian of her high school class.
She attended Oklahoma State University and was named one of the Top Ten Freshman Women. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Oklahoma.
She settled in Oklahoma City and actively served her community and church. She led a Young Life Group, taught numerous bible studies, and was the director of Vacation Bible School for several years. She worked for the Department of Health and Human Services as a case worker and took care of each child as if he or she was her own.
She was a talented artist and lover of children. Her family referred to her as the "Pied Piper" because children were so drawn to her and she to them. She was fearless and always willing to try something new. She had a wonderful sense of humor and could entertain her family and friends with her antics including her ability to voice a very realistic-sounding siren that caused her neighbors to come outside to ensure all was ok!
She was active in her family's lives. She loved being a mother and a nony. Her daughters and granddaughters adored her. She covered them in prayer and made sure their homes were full of love.
When her physical health began to decline, she would encourage and motivate her fellow patients to have hope. The staff and residents at The Glade Assisted Living Facility were inspired by her ability to create a community of caring amongst "their tribe". One cousin described Rosemary as someone who always listened and was engaged in the needs of her family and friends. She set a wonderful example for the rest of us of on how to care for others. She will be missed by many.
Her legacy is continued by her children and their spouses: Jimmy and Coby Maness, Ryan and Brooke Stamatis; best friend: Mark Sneed; grandchildren: Presley, Kennedy, Addison, Carrington, and Gracie.
A private memorial service will be held by the family in late July. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in memory of Rosemary Schoeb Sneed to CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children) of Oklahoma County. (okcountycasa.org)
