Rosie Lee Smith, 74, of Peoria, IL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Kanawha, TX, on December 6, 1950, to Hargie and Australia (Fulsom) Smith. They preceded her in death.
Also preceding her in death were her grandmother, Liza Smith, and two brothers: John Smith and Richard "Chubby" Whitaker.
Surviving are her children: Angela (Steve) Smith, Felicia (Josh) Gaa, and Sean (Beth) Smith; grandchildren: Adrian Smith, Sean (Nicole) Whitelow Jr., Kandace Galloway, Taylor Fondren, Jaylyn Smith, and Paige Smith; great-grandchildren: Kameronn Smith, Gwynn Smith, Zion Smith, Cheyenne Whitelow, Dakota Whitelow, Jaycee Galloway, Cevon Jones, Dash Smith, and Tatum Smith; and siblings: James "Pludie" Smith, Winnie Elmore, Queenester Perkins, Hargie Smith Jr., Brenda Clark, Gregory MacNeary, Linda Whitaker, and Kevin Whitaker.
Rosie worked as a CNA for many years at Lutheran Hillside Village in Peoria. Her sweet demeanor and compassionate nature were very apparent through the care that she provided for others.
She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and took much pleasure in spoiling them all. She was known for completing her Christmas shopping by Summer, most years. This year, the Lord brings her peace.
A memorial service for Rosie will be held at The Wilton Mortuary on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 10:00 am with Pastor Gibson officiating. A repass will follow at the Life Together Center of First Federated Church, located at 3625 N. Sheridan Rd. in Peoria, from noon until 4:00 pm.
Memorial donations may be made to Blood Cancer United - Donor Services, P.O. Box 98018 Washington, DC 20090-8018.
