Erna G Stoens

Erna G. Stoens, 91, of Mossville, IL, passed away on November 8, 2025 at the ARC of Chillicothe.
She was born in Peoria, IL, on September 18, 1934, to Kurt and Dora (Spiegel) Schoolman. She married Howard J. Striker in Peoria on June 21, 1953. Erna later married Howard J. Stoens in Dunlap, IL, on October 12, 1974. Both preceded her in death.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; siblings: Albert Schoolman, Anita Reed, Ruth Barnes-Erbach, and Esther Hensley; several brothers-in-law; step-daughter, Connie Jenkins; and step-granddaughter, Lisa Jenkins.
Surviving are her daughters: Annette (Hans) Hadland of Cleveland, TN, and Marie Madison of Plainfield, IL; step-sons: John (Carol) Stoens of Lostant, IL, and David (Patti) Stoens of Peoria, IL; several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings: Martha Davis, John (Joyce) Schoolman, Robert (Sharon) Schoolman, and MaryAnn Wildman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Erna was a former factory worker at Caterpillar. She was a lifelong member of the New Apostolic Church where she sang in the choir for most of her life. Erna greatly enjoyed growing beautiful flowers as well as an abundant fruit and vegetable garden. Spending time in the kitchen and cooking delicious meals for family and friends was also a lifelong passion.
A funeral service for Erna will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, November 14, 2025 at the Wilton Mortuary with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Lambert Tusamba will be officiating. A private entombment will take place at American Mausoleum.
