Teresa McCabe

Peoria, Il. -Teresa A. McCabe, 96, of Peoria, passed away in her sleep, on Friday, October 24, 2025 at Buehler Home in Peoria.
Teresa was born on September 6, 1929, in Burlington, Iowa, to Dr. Harold Aid and Zita (Armstrong) Aid. She married James T. McCabe, September 6, 1952, in Burlington, Iowa. He passed away in 2014.
Teresa is survived by two sons, James F. (Joyce) McCabe of Panama City, Panama and Dr. Michael E McCabe of North Canton, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Two sisters, Rose Mary and Frances Clare, preceded her in death.
Teresa graduated from Clarke College in Dubuque, Iowa. Teresa and her husband raised their two boys in Peoria, Panama, Brazil and Mexico due to her husband's 37 year career at Caterpillar.
She was an active member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Peoria Heights, Il, and was a member of the choir for 25 years. Teresa volunteered for many years at the Lakeview Museum of Arts and Sciences, as well as belonging to the Fine Arts Society. Fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, Teresa became very active in local organizations, studied the history and culture of the locations where she lived and established a business in Mexico which highlighted the tremendous talent the indigenous people had for all forms of handicrafts.
Our family would like to thank the entire staff of Buehler Home for the loving care they provided Teresa over the many years she was a resident.
Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at St Thomas Catholic Church in Peoria Heights. A visitation will be held 30 minutes prior to the mass at the church. Entombment will be at Resurrection Mausoleum at 12:00 noon on Thursday, November 20, 2025. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
