Ross Vecchio Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home on Oct. 1, 2025.
Ross Joseph Vecchio Sr., a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, and a lifelong servant to his community, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at the age of 81.
For 56 years, he shared a life of love and partnership with his wife, Linda Cousino Vecchio, building a family grounded in faith, hard work, and compassion. Together, they raised five children, who were the joy of his life, and he found even greater joy in watching his family grow to include several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A respected businessman, Ross owned and operated Ross's Swap Shop for over 40 years, becoming not only a leader in his field but also a trusted friend to many. Beyond his professional life, he lived out his Catholic faith in action. As Director of the Upward Life Food Ministry Pantry, he dedicated himself to serving others, always helping without expecting anything in return. His generosity and quiet kindness touched countless lives.
Ross also gave his time and leadership to the Walker County Senior Center, where he once served as president, working to enrich the lives of his neighbors and friends.
When not serving his family and community, he enjoyed life's simple pleasures-fishing, relaxing at home, and watching TV. Those moments reflected his easygoing nature and love for the everyday blessings of life.
Ross leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and service that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda; his children, Muguet (Neal) Bradbury, Angela Catlett, Barbaragene (Scott) Barnard, Ross J. (Jennifer) Vecchio Jr., and Anthony (Brittany) Vecchio; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and sister, Loretta (Anthony) Spata; and a host of extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Josephine Vecchio; brother, Matthew Vecchio; and sisters, MaryAnn Burch and Dolly Wetherington.
A memorial service may be held at a later date.
