Roswitha H. Finders, 76, of Frankfurt on Main, Germany, passed away surrounded by her son on September 14, 2020.
Services for Roswitha will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023 beginning at 10:30 A.M. at the Ferguson Bible Church with Reverend Robert Spilger officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Family. Roswitha Heidrun Nickel was born March 30, 1944 to parents Paul and Jenny Nickel in Landshut, Silesia (Germany, now Poland). She attended a grammar school and acquired the German Abitur (equivalent high school diploma) in Frankfurt on Main, Germany. She furthered her education at the Goethe-University of Frankfurt on Main where she received her teaching degree to allow education from secondary school up to tenth grade.
On May 28, 1969, Roswitha was united in marriage to the love of her life Robert Finders. Together they had one son, Erik. Roswitha taught elementary education primarily first to fourth grades at the German Grundschule (equivalent elementary school). Roswitha and Robert lived in Frankfurt on Main, Germany together. In the last six years of Robert's life, Roswitha dedicated her life to care for Robert until his passing in 2018. Roswitha was involved in the Society for the Support of the Church of Our Lady (Frauenkirche), Dresden. In her free time, she enjoyed activities such as knitting, crocheting, and sewing. She also liked to take day trips to small cities and towns and discovering nature. She took trips to visit museums and art exhibitions.
Roswitha always loved visiting Berlin where she grew up with her mother and her sister until the age of 13 when she and her mother fled from the German Democratic Republic to Frankfurt on Main in West Germany, where her father had been released to by the French from War captivity, and what allowed her to meet him for the first time in her life at age 13.
Roswitha is survived by her son, of Frankfurt on Main (born 1977), her daughter-in law (born 1981), her nephew, of Frankfurt on Main (born 1960), and her aunt, of Berlin (born 1927).
She is preceded in death by her father, (1904-1966), her mother, (1909-1973), her brother-in-law, (1933-2003), her sister, (1934-2013, and her husband, (1940-2018).
