Madonna "Bean" Eileen (Walker) Lowe, 75, passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. A celebration of life for both Madonna and her late husband Jim will be held at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted with Anderson Funeral Homes. Madonna was born January 10, 1950 in Des Moines, Iowa. She grew up on a farm outside of Jamaica, Iowa. After graduating from Yale Jamaica Bagley (YJB) High School in 1968, she attended beauty school in Des Moines. Madonna married James Lowe, January 8, 1972 in Bayard, Iowa. With Jim in the Navy, they thoroughly enjoyed the military lifestyle. Upon relocation to Adak, Alaska, they welcomed their daughters Jamie (Lowe) Newberry and Rebecca Lowe into the world. In 1981, they moved back to Perry, Iowa to be near family. After a variety of vocations, Madonna graduated from Iowa Lakes Community College in 1999 with a degree in Journalism and Photography. She worked as a reporter at newspapers in Jackson, Minnesota and Audubon, Iowa before retiring. Madonna loved photography, sports, and traveling. She relished spending time with family, especially her beloved grandson, Tyler Newberry.
Madonna is survived by her daughters Jamie (Lowe) Newberry, Rebecca Lowe, grandson Tyler Newberry, sister Carloyn (Walker) Wilson, sibling in-laws Cindy and Craig Patterson, Stan and Mary Lowe, Delbert "Red" Lowe, Marlene (Lowe) and Greg Chaloupka, Pat Keeble, Billy Keeble, Jeannie (Lowe) Brynestad, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband James "Jim" Lowe, parents James and Mary (Rohner) Walker, brothers Don (Audry) Walker, Dean Walker, sibling in-laws Bob Wilson, Everill Lowe, Jim Keeble, Jean (Keeble) Heinz, and Judy (Keeble) Hockett.
