Rowena Carter Obituary
Rowena F. Carter, 94, passed away on October 30, 2023, at Wapak Manor Nursing Home.
Rowena was born on April 30, 1929, in Saint Johns, Ohio to Elias W. and Clella O. (Beech) Gross. On April 12, 1948, she married Elmer C. Carter who preceded her in death.
Rowena was a 1947 graduate of Waynesfield High School, Waynesfield, Ohio. She worked as a merchandise checker at J.C. Penney in Lima, Ohio and retired from there. She was a long-time member of Waynesfield Baptist Church in Waynesfield, Ohio. She was a former Sunday School teacher and had held several offices at the church. She was a member of the Missionary Lady's Group, Ceramics at St. Marys, and the Senior Citizens.
She is survived by her son, Stephen (Diana) Carter; grandchildren: Tracey Angelico, Angela (Carter) Gronwall, and Kristopher Carter; great-grandchildren: Cheyenne, Haelee, Skylar, and Anakin.
She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a son, James Carter; and siblings: Cecile Giel, Roberta McMillen and Phillip Gross.
A graveside service will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 22, 2023. Rev. Todd Tenaglia will officiate.
