Rowena Charity Word

Rowena Charity Word, 76, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. Born on December 1, 1948, in Battle Creek, she was the daughter of the late Cylester V. Nunnally and Levora N. Nunnally.
Rowena was a proud graduate of Battle Creek Central High School and spent her career at Post Cereal until retirement. She was an elegant and gracious woman, known for her love of reading, her keen fashion sense, and her enthusiasm for football. Rowena cherished time with her close family and friends, always eager to hear about her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's adventures.
She had a special fondness for hummingbirds - symbols of joy, goodness, and resilience - qualities that reflected Rowena's generous spirit and enduring strength.
Rowena is survived by her husband, Terrance J. Word; son, Tyrae (Evelia) Word of Chandler, Arizona; daughters, Renee Nunnally of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Kim (Steve) Belcher Pickard of Lansing, Michigan; brothers, DeWayne (Arene) Nunnally of Battle Creek, Michigan, and Cylester V. Nunnally of Lansing, Michigan; sisters, Joyce Faulkes of Chicago, Illinois, Wanda J. (Alvin) Moss of Battle Creek, Michigan, and Devora K. (Bill Robinson) Nunnally of Ann Arbor, Michigan; six grandchildren, Robert Nunnally, LaShanda Nunnally, Michayla Wilson, Taliyah Word, Tavian Word, and Tayani Word; and three great-grandchildren.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be a private family visitation. No public visitation or funeral services will be held.
