Roy William Capps, age 84 of Rutherford, TN, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2025, at the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Humboldt, TN. His funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday, March 12th at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. Travis Hendrix officiating. Visitation will be after 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 12th prior to the service at 2:00.
Roy William Capps was born October 17, 1940, in Paris, TN, to the late Elbert and Annie Ray Capps. On February 14, 1963, he married Norma McCormic Capps, and she survives in Rutherford, TN.
Roy was a Veteran of the United States Army. He was Baptist, and he was a truck driver for 28 years, ending his career with Dana Corp. He loved fishing and riding around in the country. He was an avid coffee drinker, and most of all, he was a loving husband, father, and a caring grandpa.
In addition to his wife, Roy is survived by his daughter, Cherie (Clint) Hickman of Rutherford, TN; sons: Kevin (Kelly) Capps of Clarksville, TN, David (Sherry) Capps of Deer Park, IL, and Darrell (Donna) Capps of Wylie, TX; sister, Annie Louise Crawford of Springville, TN; brother, Lowell Ray Capps of Paris, TN; grandchildren: Zach Capps, Shelby (Jordan) Williams, Jacob (Amber) Capps, Cheyenne Capps, Morgan Capps, Ashley (Osiel Posadas) Capps, Hannah (JD) Davis, Katie Hickman (Pepper Butler), Thomas Hickman, and Jacob Lucas Hickman; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and ex-daughter-in-law, Teresa Capps.
Pallbearers for Mr. Capps will be Jake Capps, Zach Capps, Pepper Butler, Clint Hickman, Jordan Williams, Osiel Posadas, and Thomas Hickman.
