Roy N. Eckert of Normandy Tennessee passed from this life on Monday, June 2, 2025, at Vanderbilt Harton Hospital in Tullahoma, Tennessee at the age of 77 years.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home in Tullahoma, Tennessee with Dr. Stephen Bills officiating. Burial will follow at Rosehill Memorial Garden in Tullahoma. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, June 5, 2025, from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and also on Friday from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
A native of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, Roy was born on February 27, 1948, to the late Joseph William and Alpha Beatrice Clayton Eckert. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph William Eckert Jr. (JW), sisters, Joyce Harris and Joan Schoonover, and one grandson, Hunter Perry.
Roy was a Vietnam Veteran and an Army Ranger. He was a Staff Sargent at Fort Knox, and also the recipient of the Purple Heart. He later became a member of the American Legion. He was a member of the Sunrise Rotary and the Lions Club in Tullahoma throughout the years. Roy was a man dedicated to the service of his community through these various organizations. Roy attended LSU School of Banking and was a founding member of the First Vision Bank in Tullahoma. He retired as the Executive Vice President and chief credit officer of First Vision Bank. He loved gardening and was the Beekeeper of Shiloh Honey Farm and enjoyed passing the knowledge of beekeeping to others as well as sharing the jars of honey. Roy is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rebecca Eckert of Normandy, Tennessee, daughter, Melissa (Teddy) Perry of Tullahoma, Tennessee, brother, Terrill (Irmtroud) Eckert of Germany, two grandchildren, Emily and Madalyn Perry and one great grandchild, McKinlea.
