Richard James Eckert, age 76 of Hillsboro and formerly of Indianapolis, passed away on August 5, 2025 at home. He was born on November 8, 1948 to Agnew and Mary Alice (Moore) Eckert in Indianapolis.
Richard was a longtime member of the Blended Church in Indianapolis. He moved to Hillsboro 4 years ago and cherished his time living in the country. Richard was a fan of motor racing, particularly NASCAR. In his younger years, he was a skilled carpenter and enjoyed fixing things around the house.
Richard is survived by his 3 sons, Rick (Sarah) Eckert, Charles (Monique) Eckert and Tony Eckert; daughter, Amanda (Rick) Smock; 7 grandchildren, Seth, Hannah, Lexi, Alyssa, Derrek, Rebekah and Conner; 6 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mary Ann (Dallas) Sutton and Jeanie (Tim) Sullivan.
He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Robert Eckert.
