Roy Esquivel Obituary

He was born in Winters, Tx on December 3, 1944, the son of Enrique Esquivel Sr. and Manuela Cortez Esquivel. He attended school in Winters and then later received his Diploma in 2007. He was employed at John's Int. and Mueller Inc.
He was a member of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Roy enjoyed watching his boys and grandchildren play football, fishing, singing, making up songs to make his children laugh, telling stories, doing yard work and helping his wife with her burrito stand.
Roy was preceded in death by his father and mother, brothers Enrique Jr. and Richard Esquivel, and grandson Erick Robert Castillo.
He is survived by his wife Emma Esquivel; children: Roddie (Rodolfo Esquivel) Whitsel & wife Sheila of San Angelo, JoAnn Luna of Winters, Felix Portillo & wife Tañía, Juan Santos & wife Kimberly, Jose Santos, and Francisco Santos of Abilene; brothers: Raul, Robert, Alfonso, & Jimmy Esquivel; sister Soila Reyes; grandchildren: Rudy & Tanner Whitsel, Gabriel, Jake,& Kyile Portillo, Shelby & Jayden Santos, Abygil & Gabrielle Santos, Caiden Castillo, Jersey, Beau, Reagan, and Emma Jo Perkins; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to send a THANK YOU to Central Texas Nursing & Rehab for all the help & care during our time with them, and Ballinger Home Health & Hospice for the love & care they showed Roy and a SPECIAL Thank you to Cristina Strube and Victoria Ruiz.
Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday January 18, 2024 at Winters Funeral Home.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 19, 2024 at Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Winters with interment at the Lakeview Cemetery.

My fondest memories of Uncle Roy as I was growing up was that he wasn't as authoritarian as the rest of the adults were. At 8 years old (me), that was pretty cool! I'll miss you, Tio!
