Roy had a bevy of jobs throughout his life (United Stationary, his cleaning business, bakery worker) but found his real calling as a grandfather; he loved to take the grands camping. He was never more at ease than when he stood on the water’s edge fishing and crabbing. He toured the country from Maine to Florida in his RV and he cheered for the Eagles and the Phils. He was the most charming and likeable, happy-go-lucky guy in the world unless the Birds lost. He inspired the youth of the area as a Maple Shade Little League Coach; one year he coached a championship team. He bowled in many leagues and once had a televised match on PBS. He lived in Maple Shade and served our nation in the Navy.
A pretty girl named Carol was friends with his brother. The two started dating; they said it would never last. 58-years of marriage may have proved them wrong. They would be blessed with three children: Jesse (Kathy) Genzel, Debra (Nicholas) Holman, and James and granddaughters, Emily and Morgan.
