Roy W. George, born on June 11, 1949, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication and love that will forever be cherished by those who knew him.
A hardworking and diligent man, Roy devoted over 37 years to the art of bookbinding for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters local 235. His unwavering work ethic and commitment to his craft made him a respected member of the community. Roy's passion extended beyond his career; he served as a marine with honor in the Vietnam War, where he took immense pride in serving his country. His military achievements include promotion to sergeant and he was awarded the prestigious title of Marine of the Year, along with multiple medals: the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, 5 Stars Vietnam Campaign Medal, 60 Device Combat Action Ribbon, and the Good Conduct Medal. These accolades stand as testament to his bravery and dedication during a pivotal time in history.
Roy was a devoted family man, an individual who consistently placed his family at the forefront of his life. Roy and Sharon shared 54 years of marriage. He cultivated an environment of love and security as he guided and cherished his wife, children, and beloved pets. His quiet demeanor was punctuated by moments of wisdom; when he spoke, everyone listened, recognizing the value in his words.
An adept handyman, Roy possessed the remarkable ability to repair and restore just about anything that came his way. His younger years were filled with a love for restoring muscle cars, a hobby that brought him great joy and satisfaction. Those who had the privilege of knowing Roy will remember him not only for his skills and achievements but also for his kindness and steadfast presence.
Roy W. George will be remembered fondly for his unwavering love, remarkable work ethic, and the indelible mark he left on the lives of others. His spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the honor of knowing him.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents, TJ and Katherine Wood; his granddaughter, Dr. Keela Scott; and his brother, Charles George.
He is survived by, his wife, Sharon George; daughters, Sheri Rae (Chris), and Natalie Scott ( Matthew); sister, Linda McKelvy; grandchildren, Aveen Paonessa (Giovanni), Dar Kordy, Taylor Scott (Emmi); great-grandchildren, Elaria and Mason, as well as his niece and nephews.
The family has requested a private family service at this time.
