Rock Hill, SC – Mr. Roy Julius Hamilton, 85, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The family will receive friends 1:30 pm Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Mount Holly Methodist Church. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 pm with the Rev. Wayne Smith officiating.
A native of Rock Hill, SC Mr. Hamilton was a son of the late Roy Frank Hamilton and Lillian Mitchell Hamilton. He retired from Bowater. He was a member of Mount Holly Methodist Church. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #111, a lifetime member of Rock Hill Commandery #15 and a member of the Hejaz Shriners Temple. He was a Marine Corp. veteran where he served for four years from 1958-1962, He will be remembered as an avid fisherman and golfer. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Cathie Hamilton; two children David Hamilton (Chris) and Beth Gainey (Jody); four grandchildren, Ryan Hamilton (Jen), Austen Hamilton, Logan Gainey, and Lauren Gainey; a brother, Bob Hamilton; and two sisters, Claire Whitmire and Debbie Sweatt (Tony). He was preceded in death by sister, Lynda Robbins.
