Roy Alton "Toosie Pop" Hardy

Roy Alton Hardy, affectionately known as "Toosie Pop," was born on July 1, 1954, in Thomasville, Georgia, to the late Thomas James Hardy Sr. and Joyce Nancy Hardy. Roy lived a life marked by humility, dedication, and quiet strength a life that touched countless hearts and left a lasting legacy.

At an early age, Roy devoted his life to God and began his spiritual journey at Good Shepard Church. His faith was the foundation of his character, guiding him through life’s challenges and shaping the way he loved and served others.

He attended Job Corps in Texas, where he developed skills that shaped his path forward. Roy went on to work for many years at the United Methodist Church, serving faithfully in janitorial work. His commitment to maintaining a clean and welcoming space was more than a job it was an act of devotion and pride.

Roy departed this life on August 29, 2025, at Harborview Nursing Home after a courageous battle with cancer. Even in his final days, he remained a source of warmth, resilience, and grace to those around him.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 52 years, Sarah Hardy, whose unwavering love was the cornerstone of his life. Roy is also survived by his two children: Roy Hardy Jr. (Marilyn Hardy) and Lorraine Hardy (Landal Hatch), who carry forward his legacy of compassion and strength.

Roy is remembered by his three devoted siblings: Thomas James Hardy Jr., Joyce Hardy, and Steven Hardy (Lucinda Hardy); his devoted sister-in-law Ruby Willis and brother-in-law Lester Willis; his lifelong best friend, Harris King, whose friendship was a constant source of joy and support.

He also leaves behind eight cherished grandchildren: Erykah Jones, Tah'Keyah Hardy, Midajah Hardy, Tyquavious Hill, Amari Hardy, Devin Hardy, and Landon Hatch. His love and wisdom continue to live on through his two great-grandchildren: Harlem Thompson and Z’Hara Hardy.

Roy was preceded in death by his siblings Larry Hardy, Lewis Hardy, William Hardy, Linda Gail Hardy, Velma Hardy, and Isaiah King. Their memories live on in the hearts of those who remain, and Roy now joins them in eternal peace.

Roy was a man of simple pleasures and deep connections. He had a wide circle of friends with whom he loved to sit in the yard, share stories, and play cards under the Georgia sun. His garden was his sanctuary, a place where he nurtured life with the same care and patience, he gave to those around him. And when the music played, Roy danced with joy, rhythm, and a spirit that lifted everyone around him.

He also leaves behind a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends who were touched by his kindness, humor, and unwavering love. Roy’s presence was a gift, and his memory will continue to bloom in the lives of all who knew him.

Known for his gentle soul, infectious smile, and the nickname "Toosie Pop," Roy brought joy and comfort to all who crossed his path. He now rests in peace, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and treasured memories that will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
