Smyrna - Roy Leonard Lipsey Sr., of Rock Cut Road, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at his residence.
Born in Union, SC, he was the husband of Cathy Dover Lipsey, to whom he was married for 52 years, and the son of the late Willie Austin Lipsey Jr. and Betty Lou Johnson Lipsey. He was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church and worked in logging. He was a Sunday School teacher and worked with the youth and adults. He loved his church family. He was a good ole country boy and he loved his chickens.
In addition to his wife, Roy is survived by his son, Kevin Lipsey (Carly); his grandchildren raised in the home, Ashley Kosmos (Michael) and Tabitha Gay (Brandon); three other grandchildren, Leah Lipsey, Jade Lipsey, and Kristopher Owens; his great-grandchildren, Aaron and William Kosmos, Dakoda, Ryder, and Rory Gay, and Kane Bledson; his brothers, Steve Lipsey (Pam) and Dennis Lipsey; and his sister, Brenda Winchester.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Roy Leonard Lipsey Jr.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 14, 2025 from 3:00-4:00 pm at Smyrna Baptist Church,. Funeral services will follow at the church at 4:00 pm with Rev. Michael D. Owen and Rev. Seth Patterson officiating. Interment will be in Canaan United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mike Carroll, Matthew Patterson, Ricky Black, Bill Dover, Jerry Benfield, and Robbie Gilliam will serve as pallbearers. Aaron Kosmos will serve as honorary pallbearer.
