Roy L. Proctor, born on August 6, 1946, in Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on February 10, 2025, in his beloved hometown. He was a devoted family man, a hard worker, and an enthusiastic individual whose passions enriched the lives of those around him.
Roy dedicated over 28 years of his life to Henry Vogt Machine, followed by more than 10 years at Kentucky Trailer, where he contributed his expertise and labor with steadfast commitment. His tenure at these companies exemplified his work ethic and devotion to his career.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Roy was a man of many interests. He found joy in fishing and golfing, often relishing the tranquil moments spent outdoors. Additionally, he had a fondness for casinos, particularly the thrill of slot machines, which brought him much happiness and less money!
Roy is survived by his wife of 57 years, Kay Proctor, who remained his steadfast partner through all of life's journeys. He is also survived by his children: Laura Proctor (James Schutz), Leah Cleary (Jess), and Kimberly Edwards (Derrick). The legacy of his love continues through his grandchildren, including Michael Schutz, Andrew Schutz, Kayleigh Schutz, Christopher Schutz, Jonathan Rouse, Rachel Cleary, Jacob Cleary, Kelly Pfeil (Cameron), Shane Higgins (Stephanie), and Ian Higgins. Additionally, he was proud to be a great-grandfather to Kinley and Grant Pfeil.
To honor and celebrate Roy's life, visitation services will take place on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Celebration of Life will follow on Saturday, February 15, 2025, commencing at 11:00 AM at The Chapel at Calvary Cemetery in Louisville.
