Roy Rogers Ray was born September 14, 1943 in Bethel Springs, TN the son of the late Romas Ray and Christine Russom Ray.
With a strong work ethic, Roy dedicated his career to various roles, including the Brown Shoe Company and in the pipeline industry, ultimately retiring from General Electric. Beyond his professional life, Roy found immense joy in whether it was casting a line while fishing, pursuing his passion for hunting, or nurturing his garden. Most of all he loved the time spend with his family.
As a Master Mason with the Purdy Lodge, Roy embodied values of friendship, charity, and community service, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Roy departed this life peacefully on November 13, 2025, in Selmer, Tennessee, at the age of 82 years, 1 month, and 30 days.
He is survived by his wife, Annie Jane Ray; children: Roger Dale Ray, Jimmy Ray and wife Stephanie, Susan Ray Hall and husband Scott, Stephen King, Laurie Robertson and husband Steve; five grandchildren: Sarah Beth Knepp and husband Josh, Allie Smith and husband Cannon, Ryan Ray and wife Tiffany, Samuel Ray and wife Madison, Tristan Hall; seven great grandchildren: Ivy Knepp, Cullen Smith, Kip Smith, Harley Ray, Dixie Ray, Remington Ray, Millie Ray; a sister, Janice Chester and husband Robby; a brother, Russell Ray; sister-in-law, Myrtle Ray; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Ray; sister-in-law, Viola Ray.
