Roy Dwight Sheehan

Roy Dwight Sheehan, 81, of Pisgah Forest, NC peacefully passed away on Monday, September 1, 2025.

Roy was born on August 11, 1944 to the late Hillard Sheehan (1987) and Hattie Sheehan (1991). He is also preceded in death by his brothers, Edgar Sheehan, Gregory Sheehan, Roger Sheehan, Lewis Sheehan; sister, Pearl Whitmire; and granddaughter, Kayla Sheehan.

Roy graduated from Rosman High School before enlisting in the United States Army. Roy was active Army during 1964 to 1966 serving in Vietnam where he received a purple heart as well as many other medals. He then served with the Army Reserves retiring in 2004. He was a Drill Sergeant at Fort Jackson, SC for many years helping to train young men and women for their active duty years. He then retired as First Sergeant.

Roy was a mechanic for DuPont until he retired in 1991. While employed at DuPont, he participated in their baseball league, basketball league, and bowling league. Roy was a coach for 30 years for the Brevard Youth Termites. They won several championships during his coaching days. Roy also coached in the Transylvania youth baseball league. He tried to be a role model by living his life to inspire the youth to be the best that they could be.

Roy attended Cross Roads Baptist Church in Brevard. He loved all his church family. He always tried to offer a helping hand anyway he could. He will be missed by family and friends.

Roy is survived by his wife of 58 years, Doris Wilson Sheehan; children, Tim Sheehan (Chantal) of Inman, SC, Jack Sheehan of Pisgah Forest, NC, Angela Briggs (Chuck) of Horse Shoe, NC, Tristan Sheehan of Pisgah Forest, NC, Trevor Sheehan of Pisgah Forest, NC, Estrella Sheehan of Pisgah Forest, NC; siblings, Daniel Sheehan (Carol) of Seneca, SC, Edna Bryson of Glenville, NC, Bonnie Whitlock of Brevard, NC, Chester Sheehan of Brevard, NC; grandchildren, Timothy Sheehan of Hendersonville, NC, Scott Sheehan of Clinton, TN, Samantha Rose (Ally) of North Augusta, SC, Mariah Silver-Sheehan of NH, Mary Sheehan of Rosman, NC, Kolsyn Sheehan of Rosman, NC; great grandchildren, Helix Sheehan of Hendersonville, NC, Celesse Sheehan of Hendersonville, NC, Gage Hewell of Hendersonville, NC, Maleah Sheehan of Clinton, TN, Carter Sheehan of Clinton, TN, Rylan Sheehan of Clinton, TN, David Sheehan of Clinton, TN, Eris Sheehan of North Augusta, SC, Kreed Orr of Rosman, NC, Creedance Orr of Rosman, NC and Journeigh Orr of Rosman, NC.
