Rose Sheehan

1931 - 2026

Rose Angela Sheehan passed away peacefully in her home on February 7, 2026 at 94 years of age. Born and raised in Salinas, she grew up surrounded by many relatives and friends. After attending high school and junior college in Salinas, she transferred to UC Berkeley, where she graduated with a degree in romance languages.

After graduation she landed a job with the CIA, which took her to Washington DC. On nice days she would sit on the grass and eat her lunch by the reflecting pool near the Lincoln Memorial. But it wasn't long before she became homesick for her parents and family, and transferred to San Francisco, where she met her husband Robert Sheehan. Rose and Bob soon moved to Davis, where they raised their children.

Rose loved vacationing with her family in Yosemite and Disneyland, day trips to the Sierra foothills and the beaches of her childhood, and going on cruises with Bob to Alaska. She also made several trips to Italy, where she impressed the locals with her fluent Italian. For many years she worked as an assistant librarian at the UC Davis Law Library, and loved playing tennis and having coffee with her friends. A devout Catholic, she regularly attended Sunday Mass at St. James Church.

Rose is survived by her three children Francis, Stacy and Rachel, daughter-in-law Wendy, grandchildren Scott and Amanda, and Scott's wife Kim. A funeral Mass will be held at St. James Church on Wednesday, February 25 at 11am.
