Roy Trickle Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, Inc. on Dec. 14, 2022.
Roy Lee Trickle, 77, of Basehor, KS passed away on Monday, December 12, 2022 at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, KS.
Roy was born on May 28, 1945 near Miltonvale, KS, the son of Kenneth and Mabel (Comfort) Trickle. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Miltonvale High School. He attended Brown Mackey Business School in Salina. He worked for Citizens State Bank in Miltonvale, Beech Aircraft in Salina, and the Salina Post Office before enlisting in the Army National Guard. He later began work as a Company Clerk at Wilson Lake where he met Barbara. They were married on August 5, 1972.
Roy and Barbara moved to the Kansas City area in 1973 where Roy worked for the Corps of Engineers being promoted to various jobs and later General Services Administration as a Contracting Officer Supervisor. He had 36 years of government service. After retirement he worked 17 years as a Customer Service Representative at Nebraska Furniture Mart. Roy earned awards, accolades, and special recognition throughout his career.
Roy was a loving husband of 50 years to Barbara. He had one daughter, Jenny Jantz (husband Loren), and two granddaughters, Payton and Kenzie Jantz, of Trophy Club, TX. He is survived by his older brother Kenneth Trickle Jr. (wife Mary Anne) of Salina, KS, sister Shirley Bailey-Gibbs of Republican City, NE, niece Phyllis Brittenham (husband Dean) of Garwin, IA, nephew Jim Oursler (wife Kris) of Wichita, KS, nephew Brandon Unruh of Haysville, KS and many great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his younger sister, Betty JoAnn Unruh, brother in-law, John P. Bailey, and nephew, John K. Bailey.
Roy was a member of Bonner Springs United Methodist Church where he served as Administrative Board Secretary and on the Finance and Nomination Committees. He enjoyed serving the Bonner Springs community by delivering meals for Feed His Lambs. Living a life of character, integrity, kindness and generosity was most important to Roy. He loved meeting people and hearing their stories. He made a priority of putting others first.
Roy loved going for long walks, feeding the birds, mowing his yard, doing jigsaw puzzles, attending classic car shows, cheering for the Kansas Jayhawks and Kansas City Chiefs, visiting with neighbors, traveling to Branson, Dallas, and Destin, and spending time with family and friends.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 pm and the funeral will follow at 4:00 pm on Saturday, December 17 at the Bonner Springs United Methodist Church with burial to follow at a Graveside Funeral Service at 11:00 am Monday, December 19, at the Miltonvale Cemetery in Miltonvale, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to Feed His Lambs or the Bonner Springs United Methodist Church and left in care of Alden - Harrington Funeral Home.
The Funeral Service is planned to be live streamed on the Alden Harrington Funeral Home Facebook page.

Roy was my supervisor at GSA during the beginning of my career. He was the most genuine, honest and caring lead for our branch. He was a great mentor and most importantly a wonderful friend. Sending my sincere condolences to the Trickle family.
