Roy Edwin Wariner went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 22, 2022. Roy was born on June 20, 1936, in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Vernon and Pearline (McElroy) Wariner. He was raised and attended school in Tuttle, Oklahoma.
Roy started work at the Oklahoma Journal Newspaper in 1964 as a platemaker and negative stripper, moved to the pressroom as a head pressman and then to the camera department as a foreman. Roy worked there until they closed in 1980. He then went to work at Dee's Graphics as a salesman in Oklahoma City before opening his own business, Wariner Printing, Inc. in 1984. In 1992 he closed his business to go work at the State of Oklahoma Department of Transportation in the printing and reproduction division. Roy worked for the state for 10 years before retiring in 2002.
Roy always enjoyed going to the lake with his family. He would load up the trailer with four motorcycles for himself and the kids to enjoy a weekend or week at Little Glasses at Lake Texoma. Roy worked on an old school bus converting it into a family camper. So many memories were made at the lake water skiing, fishing, riding motorcycles, chasing armadillos and being with his family and friends. He later bought a lake front property at Lake Eufaula in Cedar Bluff II. So many good times and wonderful memories were made at the lake when the grandkids were young. It was a hard decision but as the grandkids got older, he wanted to spend more time with them at their sporting events and school activities, so he decided to sell his lake property.
Roy loved his family dearly and his favorite time was spending time with his family at birthday celebrations, cookouts, and holidays. Our dad and papa will be missed tremendously.
Roy is survived by his sons, Brian Wariner (Kay), Smokey McCarthey (Patti) and his daughter Kelly Mockabee (Danny). He is also survived by four grandkids, Matt Mockabee (Mayme), Megan Atchley (Joel), London Gordon (Mac) and Dylan Mockabee; and nine great-grandchildren, Maeli Mockabee, Aiden and Easton Atchley, Mason Mockabee, Cooper Atchley, Addy Mockabee, Gracie Gordon, Ava Atchley and Hattie Gordon. He is also survived by his brother, Loyd Wariner, Midland, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother Floyd Wariner; and granddaughter Lindsey Beth Mockabee.
